Johns Manville GoBoard is an ultra-lightweight, waterproof polyisocyanurate foam backer board that makes an excellent substrate for mosaic art.

It weighs up to 80% less than traditional cement backer boards, making finished mosaic pieces much easier to hang and transport.

The foam core and facings are waterproof, meaning the board will not warp, rot, or degrade when used in wet areas or outdoors.

Unlike wood or plywood substrates, it does not require a special moisture sealer before you apply your tile adhesives or thinset.

You can use standard thinset mortar or silicone-based glues, but ensure any adhesive used is fully cured before grouting.

Because the foam edges are exposed when cut, you can paint them with a neutral acrylic paint to match your grout or frame the piece in wood or aluminum.
